Former boxing world champion Amir Khan has shared his thoughts on a fun idea – a boxing match between football legends Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.
Speaking to Instant Casino, Khan said it would be exciting to see both stars in the boxing ring. Even though he doesn’t think it will ever happen, he said he would definitely buy a ticket if it did.
“That would be a great fight. I’d buy a ticket for that,” Khan said. “No one really knows who the best is between the two. I like both. Ronaldo is a great ambassador for the sport, and so is Messi. But with the kind of money they earn, they probably wouldn’t fight – they don’t need to.”
Khan was also asked about Messi dealing with pitch invaders in the MLS. His advice was simple: “Just run.” He explained that Messi has too much at stake and shouldn’t risk anything.
Khan added, “I get why they moved his bodyguard away, but most fans just want to hug or touch him. They love him and don’t want to harm him.”
Ronaldo and Messi haven’t faced each other on the field since they both left European football. Ronaldo now plays for Al-Nassr in Saudi Arabia, and Messi plays for Inter Miami in the United States.
