Jude Okoye, the former manager of the popular music group P-Square, had an emotional reunion with his children after spending nearly two months in detention. Jude was released from prison on Wednesday, April 23, and a touching video showing the moment he saw his kids again has gone viral.
In the video, his children—two daughters and a son—walk into their living room, not knowing their dad is there. As soon as they see him, they scream with joy and run to hug him, causing them all to fall into a chair together. It was a very heartwarming scene.
Jude had been in Ikoyi prison after he was accused of money laundering involving N1.38 billion, $1 million, and £34,537.59. He pleaded not guilty and was granted bail for N100 million, which he eventually met.
The EFCC (Economic and Financial Crimes Commission) later added more charges, claiming Jude used music royalties meant for his brothers for personal gain. These new charges mentioned amounts like $767,544.15, £34,537.59, and other large sums. He was given another bail of N50 million but couldn’t meet it at first.
Finally, his younger brother, Paul Okoye, shared the news of his release on Instagram, along with videos of Jude leaving prison and reuniting with his family. Paul wrote, “Jude is finally out after 2 months. All their efforts to stop his bail have failed. Welcome home, brother @judeengees and happy birthday.”
Jude’s legal problems started when their other brother, Peter Okoye, reported to the EFCC that money was moved from P-Square’s business account to Jude’s company account without permission.
The case is still ongoing, but for now, Jude is back home with his family.
