A Nigerian pastor named Apostle Olatunde Adekunle Babatunde has spoken out to defend Pastor David Favour Love, the husband of the late Shimite Bello.
Shimite Bello, who was the Special Adviser on Trade and Export to the Delta State Governor, died on Easter Monday, April 21, 2025. She passed away at St. Luke’s Hospital in Asaba after she was reportedly found foaming at the mouth.
Her family accused her husband of being involved in her death. They claimed he controlled her life, isolated her from her loved ones, and made her change the ownership of all her properties to his name.
One family member said, “Since David came into her life, she was cut off from everyone. Her brother couldn’t even visit. She wasn’t allowed to go to work. He was always watching her. He changed all her property documents to his name. We think he brainwashed her.”
But Apostle Babatunde has come to David’s defense. In a Facebook post on Wednesday, April 23, he said Shimite’s family never liked David because she loved him more than she loved them or her friends.
He also said David once lived in one of his properties in Ilorin for free, showing that he was a humble man.
The pastor denied the claim that David made Shimite change the names on her properties to his. He believes the family is blaming David unfairly.
“I know that fake and bad news travels faster than good news and I also know that we’re good at believing lies over truth, because we judge situations by emotions and not by facts,” the Apostle wrote.

No single house help anywhere called anyone, there was no domestic violence anywhere, it was true the woman vomited in a container which led to taking her to the hospital…. It was the husband that raised alarm and not any family anywhere

Police never arrested him, they only rescued him from the hospital because of the people that gathered against him for his own safety
As I am talking to you now, the husband said the family carried their daughter and took her away to an unknown destination and the police already intervened on the matter
The pharmacist and the nurse that treated her all through before her demise came to the station on their own to tell the police what has been happening before now which led to her sudden natural death
These was a natural d3ath that some people took advantage of to close the man out of the family
The man doesn’t have any access to her property talk more of forcing her to change every document
