“Nigerians Are Programmed To Hate Their Country On Social Media – Poju Oyemade

Pastor Poju Oyemade, the Senior Pastor and Founder of The Covenant Nation, has shared his thoughts on how many Nigerians feel about their country. He said people are being trained, especially through social media, to hate Nigeria. According to him, this is like teaching people to hate themselves.

During a sermon in his church, Pastor Poju compared life and business in Nigeria to that in the United States. He said that even though many Nigerians rush to go abroad, especially to the US, the reality is that Nigeria still has its advantages.

He shared an example, saying that in Nigeria, someone can become a doctor after spending about N500,000. But in America, becoming a doctor can cost up to $200,000 or more. He asked if that was a fair comparison.

Pastor Poju also pointed out that many Nigerians who would refuse to work two jobs in Nigeria will happily do multiple jobs in the US — including working full-time, doing a second job, and driving Uber. He said if they put that same level of energy into working in Nigeria, they would be very successful.

He mentioned a trade fair organized by one of his church branches in Yaba, Lagos. Many members made good profits from the event, which he believes might not have happened the same way in America.

In summary, Pastor Poju believes that Nigerians need to see the value in their own country instead of constantly comparing it to others and looking down on it.
