Popular Nollywood actress Joke Silva recently shared why she didn’t take her husband Olu Jacobs’ last name after they got married. In a chat on the Leadership podcast hosted by Stephen Akintayo, she said it was actually her husband who told her to keep her maiden name.
Joke explained that Olu Jacobs understood how important her name was for her acting career. She had already started building her name and brand as “Joke Silva” before they got married. Her husband believed changing her name could confuse people and affect her career.
Even though she didn’t change her last name, Joke said everyone close to them knew she was Mrs. Jacobs. So it didn’t really matter to her. She kept using her maiden name for professional reasons, but in private, she was always known as his wife.
