Twelve communities in Zamfara State, Nigeria, are facing threats from bandits who have reportedly demanded a N60 million levy.
This report came from a crisis journalist known as Bakatsine, who shared the information on X (formerly Twitter). He listed the affected communities as: Koloma, Dan Hayin Zargado, Zargado, Dan Godabe, Sabuwar Tunga, Makini, Bubaka, Yelwa, Bahwada, Koda, Manya, and Kabusu.
According to him, the bandits believe that people in these communities have been helping the military carry out raids. As a result, they have asked for the huge sum as punishment.
Residents are now living in fear, worried that the bandits might attack them if they fail to pay the amount.
This situation shows the growing insecurity in parts of northern Nigeria and the serious pressure on local communities.
