Peter Obi, who ran for president under the Labour Party in the 2023 elections, visited 17-year-old Quadri Yusuf Alabi on Friday, April 18. Quadri became known during the election when a photo of him standing in front of Obi’s convoy went viral on social media.

Earlier this year in January, Quadri was accused of robbery and taken to a Magistrate Court in Apapa, Lagos. He was then sent to the Medium Security Custodial Centre in Kirikiri.

Last week, people on social media started talking about his case, and many called for his release. With the help of human rights lawyer Inibehe Effiong, Quadri was finally freed on April 17.

Lawyer Effiong shared that Peter Obi has promised to support Quadri in getting the education and skills he needs for a better future.
