Peace deal: US ready to recognize Ukraine’s Crimea as part of Russia

The United States may agree to recognize Crimea as part of Russia as part of a wider peace agreement between Russia and Ukraine, according to a report by Bloomberg.

People close to the situation said that no final decision has been made yet. Also, the White House and US State Department have not given any official comment on the issue.

Crimea was taken over by Russia in 2014, but most of the world still sees it as part of Ukraine. If the US accepts Russia’s control of Crimea, it would be a big change in its position.

At the same time, the war continues to bring pain and loss. On Friday, a Russian missile attack on the northeastern Ukrainian city of Kharkiv killed one man in his home and injured at least 112 people. Ukraine’s foreign minister, Andrii Sybiha, said that nine children were among those hurt.

According to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Russia used Iskander missiles in the attack. He said Russia launched the strike using ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, and Shahed drones.

“This is how Russia began this Good Friday – with deadly weapons,” Zelenskyy wrote on X.

The fighting and losses continue, even as talks of peace carry on in the background.
