Coalition against Tinubu a dead horse, waste of time – Fayose

Former Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose, has dismissed the idea of an opposition coalition working to remove President Bola Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 elections.

Speaking during an interview on Channels TV’s Politics Today, Fayose said the coalition is a “dead horse” and a complete waste of time. He questioned the credibility of the movement, asking which respected Nigerian politician has openly supported it.

The coalition is said to be led by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and former Kaduna Governor Nasir El-Rufai, who recently left the APC for the Social Democratic Party (SDP). However, Fayose, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), believes their efforts will fail.

He explained that PDP governors are not supporting Atiku because they are more focused on their own political survival. He mentioned a recent meeting in Ibadan where the governors made it clear they are not backing Atiku’s plans.

According to Fayose, some opposition governors would even prefer to align with Tinubu than with Atiku, as it helps them stay politically relevant.

He concluded by saying the PDP has serious internal issues that need fixing before the party can think about challenging the ruling APC in any strong way.
