Former Ekiti State governor, Ayodele Fayose, has said the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is in serious trouble and needs a miracle to survive. Speaking during an interview on Channels TV’s Politics Today, Fayose said many problems have been building up in the party for a long time and no real effort has been made to fix them.
He explained that everyone in the PDP is focused on their own interests and there is no unity or proper leadership. According to Fayose, unless something extraordinary happens, the party may not reach its goals.
Fayose also expressed doubts about another Southerner becoming president after Bola Tinubu. He said if any Southerner tries to run for president after Tinubu, he will openly oppose it, just to be fair.
He criticized the roles of the Ministers Forum and Governors Forum in the party, saying these groups are not recognized in the PDP’s constitution. He believes they have little real power and do not help the party’s progress.
Fayose added that although he faced tough times during his time as governor, he stayed loyal to the PDP. He said real change in the party will only come if everyone works together and follows the rules.
