The Kogi State Police Command has started investigating an alleged attack on the family house of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan in Obeiba-Ihima, Okehi Local Government Area, Kogi State.
The police received a distress call from Yakubu Ovanja, an aide to the senator, on Wednesday. According to the police, the senator’s family house was attacked by hoodlums.
A statement released by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP William Aya Ovye, explained that three armed hoodlums attacked the house around 1:00 AM, using cutlasses to damage some of the house’s front windows. One of the residents, Michael Akpoti, was in the house and managed to raise an alarm. The attackers fled the scene before they could cause further harm.
Following the report, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Okehi mobilized officers to the site to assess the situation. The Commissioner of Police has ordered the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Criminal Investigation to begin an immediate investigation into the attack to identify the perpetrators and bring them to justice.
