The Lagos State High Court sitting in Ikoyi has dismissed a case filed by Mr. Ademola Adebusuyi, who used to be the president of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Staff Co-operative Multipurpose Society Limited.
Mr. Adebusuyi went to court because of a disagreement over leadership in the cooperative society. But during the case, the lawyers for the other side, led by Austin Akpomreta, asked the court to dismiss it. They said the case was not being properly handled and that it had become pointless.
The court agreed with their argument. It ruled that the case was now “academic,” meaning it was no longer important or useful. The judge said the matter had no real value anymore and decided to throw it out.
This judgment brings an end to the legal battle over who should lead the NNPC Cooperative group.
