I started my life in face-me-I-face-you apartment – Davido

Popular Nigerian Afrobeats star, Davido, says he started life in a small one-room apartment known as a “face-me-I-face-you.” This kind of apartment is common in Nigeria and usually means many families share the same building and bathroom.

He made this claim in a new song called CFMF from his fifth album 5ive, which was released on Friday.

In the song, Davido sings:

“Started all the way from face me I face you
And now, I am living real large all thanks to Jesu.”

He says his current luxurious life is because of God’s help.

However, many people online are not convinced. Davido is the son of billionaire businessman, Deji Adeleke, and has always been known to come from a wealthy family.

This is not the first time Davido has shared a “from humble beginnings to success” story. In his first song Back When (2011), he claimed women ignored him when he was broke but started chasing him after he became rich and famous. That song didn’t do well because people doubted his story.

Davido only gained huge popularity with his 2012 hit Dami Duro, where he proudly accepted his rich background and sang about being unstoppable as the son of a wealthy man.
