Kano: Fire guts part of demolished shop owned by TikToker Rahama Sa’idu

On Thursday night, a fire broke out and damaged a section of a shop owned by popular TikTok personality, Rahama Sa’idu. This happened just a day after officials from the Kano State Urban Planning and Development Authority (KNUPDA) demolished part of the shop.

The shop, located on UDB Road in Tarauni Local Government Area of Kano, had its front part removed by KNUPDA on Thursday, allegedly due to urban development violations.

While the cause of the fire is still under investigation, some eyewitnesses suggest it may have been caused by welding work being carried out near the demolished area.

One eyewitness, who wished to remain anonymous, explained, “A welder was hired to fix the part that was knocked down, and while welding, a fire suddenly broke out and spread quickly.”

Another witness said the fire spread beyond Rahama’s shop and also affected a nearby photo studio.

“It wasn’t just her shop; the fire reached the photo studio next door too,” he added.

To prevent looting and further damage, security personnel have cordoned off the area.
