Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has taken legal action against the Kaduna State House of Assembly due to their findings in a N432 billion investigation.
El-Rufai’s son, Bello, announced that his father is suing the assembly for damaging his reputation with their accusations.
In a post on X, Bello wrote: “Nasir El-Rufai has sued the Kaduna State House of Assembly for defamation and other false allegations against him. They should prepare for court.”
El-Rufai’s administration was accused of mismanaging N423 billion.
On March 30th, 2024, Governor Uba Sani revealed in a town hall meeting that the state had significant debts of $587 million, N85 billion, and 115 unpaid contracts left by El-Rufai’s government.
Governor Sani stated that over 70% of the state’s budget is now used to pay off these debts.
The Kaduna State House of Assembly then set up a special committee to look into the state’s finances from May 29th, 2015, to May 29th, 2023.
