The Rivers State Government has come out to deny reports claiming that the Sole Administrator summoned suspended Governor Siminalayi Fubara and Deputy Governor Professor Ngozi Nma Odu. These reports alleged the two were called to explain appointments made in the last two years.
In a statement from the Permanent Secretary, Dede Sampson Friday, the government described the news as false and misleading. He said no such announcement came from the Office of the Secretary to the State Government (SSG).
The statement, released on Wednesday, warned the public not to believe or spread such fake news. According to Friday, these false reports are the work of people trying to create panic and disturb the peace in the state.
He reminded residents that all official news from the Rivers State Government is shared only through trusted sources—like the official government website, verified social media accounts, and press releases from the Governor’s Office and the SSG.
The government also urged people to check the source of information before sharing it. Many residents have expressed worry over the spread of fake news and the government’s slow response to stopping it.
