A sad incident happened in Osun State when a retired headmistress, Mrs. Dupe Omowumi Bello, collapsed and died during her retirement ceremony.

The event took place on April 9, 2025, at the School for the Physically Challenged in Enu Odi, Ilesa. Mrs. Bello had just completed a long and successful career in education and was being celebrated for her years of hard work and dedication.

She had recently stepped down as headmistress, and her colleagues and students admired her deeply. On the day of the event, she arrived happily and joined a music procession with drummers, smiling and dancing.

However, shortly after she sat down at the high table with her husband, she began to show signs of discomfort. Eyewitnesses said she looked tired and had trouble breathing. People nearby rushed to help and gave her first aid.

She was quickly taken to Ijesaland Geriatric Centre. From there, she was referred to Wesley Guild Hospital in Ilesa, but sadly, she was declared dead on arrival.

Her sudden death shocked everyone, turning what was supposed to be a joyful celebration into a heartbreaking tragedy.
