Popular Nigerian activist, VeryDarkMan, has promised to sponsor a new video for Eedris Abdulkareem’s protest song “Tell Your Papa”, which was recently banned by the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC).
The song was banned by the Nigerian government for being “inappropriate and offensive.” But after the ban, the song started getting more attention online, even though many people didn’t notice it before.
Reacting to the ban, VeryDarkMan said the government was only trying to hide the truth. He agreed with the message in the song, where Eedris told President Tinubu’s son, Seyi, to inform his father that there’s serious hardship and insecurity in the country.
In a video on his social media, VeryDarkMan said, “I saw the message NBC sent to Eedris saying they banned his song because he spoke about the suffering in Nigeria. But we all know it’s true. People are struggling and dying.”
He added that even though the song can’t play on radio or TV, they would now focus on spreading it through social media.
VeryDarkMan said he would sponsor a new version of the music video. He also said he would appear in the video and find someone who looks like President Tinubu to play a role in the new version, which he called “Tell Your Papa 2.” He added that they would also use the video to talk about more problems facing Nigeria.
