Pascal Gabriel Dozie, the man who started the former Diamond Bank Plc in Nigeria, has passed away. He died on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, just one day before his 86th birthday. He was 85 years old.

Reports say he had been dealing with an illness related to old age.

Pascal Dozie was well known in Nigeria’s banking world. He founded Diamond Bank, which later became part of Access Bank after a merger. He also served as the chairman of the bank before handing over the role to his son, Uzoma Dozie.

Pascal Dozie leaves behind his wife, Chinyere Dozie, and five children. He will be remembered for his big role in shaping modern banking in Nigeria.
