2027: I’ll never join Atiku, Peter Obi’s coalition – Sowore

Omoyele Sowore, the founder of the Take-It-Back Movement, has said he will not join the political coalition that Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi are planning for the 2027 presidential election. He also said he has no plans to join the Social Democratic Party (SDP).

Sowore shared his thoughts during an interview on Arise TV’s Politics Today. When asked if he would work with Atiku and Obi, he firmly said no. According to him, he would only support a coalition made up of everyday Nigerians who are suffering and looking for real change.

He explained that previous coalitions like the one formed in 2013 and 2015 led to the creation of the APC, which, in his view, brought more problems to Nigeria. He believes forming a similar group in 2025 will lead to the same disappointing results.

“The coalition that should be formed is one of the oppressed,” Sowore said. “Joining the same people who caused Nigeria’s problems in the past is unfair and harmful to the country.”

He also said he is not interested in joining the SDP or playing political games with Nigeria’s future.

Meanwhile, Atiku, Peter Obi, and former Kaduna State governor Nasir El-Rufai are working together to remove President Bola Tinubu from office in 2027. Atiku recently spoke at a press event, warning the government not to sacrifice Nigeria’s democracy for personal political goals.

He emphasized that the current political crisis, especially in Rivers State, could hurt the whole country’s future if not handled properly.
