A Nigerian midwife, Joy Eke Ilediagu, has shared a helpful reminder for pregnant women as they prepare to give birth. She encouraged expectant mothers to shave their private parts before coming to the hospital for delivery.
In a lighthearted post on her Facebook page, Joy wrote that shaving helps both the mother and the healthcare team. She said it makes the delivery process cleaner, easier, and more comfortable.
She joked that she is a midwife, not a hunter, and added that some women come to the hospital with a “thick forest” down there. She explained that keeping the area clean can make it easier for doctors and nurses to help guide the baby out safely and may even reduce the chances of tears during delivery.
Joy also said women can ask their partners for help or use a mirror to do it themselves. She reminded everyone that good hygiene during labor is important and appreciated by medical staff.
Her message was meant to be both humorous and helpful, encouraging moms-to-be to take one more step in preparing for a smooth birth experience.
