Prepare for Putin’s strike – Security advisers warn Britain residents

Security experts in the UK are warning people to be ready in case of a possible attack on energy pipelines by Russia. They say families should put together a 72-hour survival kit just in case power and gas supplies are cut off.

The UK depends a lot on gas and electricity from other countries. Almost 40% of the UK’s gas comes from Norway, and most of it is sent through the 700-mile-long Langeled pipeline.

Officials are worried because a Russian spy ship called the Yantar has been seen near important underwater cables and pipelines in the North Sea. Experts think Russia might be planning to damage these energy lines.

Last winter, the UK almost had blackouts, so security advisers are urging people to be prepared. The European Union already tells its citizens to have a three-day survival kit, and the UK may need to do the same.

Your emergency kit should have:

  • Drinking water
  • Non-perishable food
  • A flashlight
  • Important ID documents
  • Any medicines you need
  • A battery-powered radio
  • A Swiss Army knife or multi-tool

This kit can help you and your family stay safe for a few days if there’s an energy crisis.
