A terrible accident happened early Saturday morning on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway, leaving seven people dead. The crash involved three vehicles — a Mack truck, a tanker, and a yellow commercial bus.
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) said that the accident occurred around 7 a.m. and involved 15 people in total. According to the spokesperson, Florence Okpe, the driver of the Mack truck was speeding and lost control, crashing into the tanker and the bus.
Out of the 15 people, seven died — six men and one woman. Four others were injured, including three men and one woman. The injured were rushed to Divine Touch Hospital and Glory Center Hospital in Ibafo for treatment. The bodies of the victims were taken to Idera morgue in Sagamu.
FRSC Sector Commander Fasakin Akinwumi visited the accident scene and sent his condolences to the families of those who died. He also asked the families to contact the FRSC office in Ibafo for more details.
Authorities have cleared the crash site to allow traffic to move freely again.
