UEFA has announced punishments for Real Madrid players Kylian Mbappe and Antonio Rudiger after their celebrations during the Champions League win over Atletico Madrid on March 12.
Both players were given a suspended one-match ban for what UEFA called “indecent conduct.” This means they won’t miss any games unless they break the rules again within the next year. UEFA placed them on one-year probation.
Mbappe was fined €30,000 and Rudiger €40,000. Their teammate, Dani Ceballos, also received a €20,000 fine but no ban.
The punishment comes after videos surfaced showing the players celebrating their victory in a way UEFA found inappropriate—Mbappe was seen grabbing his crotch on the pitch after their penalty shootout win.
Luckily for Madrid fans, both Mbappe and Rudiger will be available for the big Champions League quarter-final match against Arsenal on Tuesday.
UEFA also said there will be no punishment for Vinicius Junior, who was also under review.
