The Delta State College of Nursing Sciences in Agbor has sent a query letter to a student for posting a TikTok video showing nursing students refusing to accept Nigeria’s First Lady, Remi Tinubu, as their “Mama.”

During Remi Tinubu’s visit to the school on March 25, the event’s MC sang a song referring to her as “our Mama.” However, the students responded by saying “your Mama” instead of accepting her as theirs.

A student who posted a video of this moment on TikTok has now been queried by the school. According to the letter, which has gone viral, the college described the act as a “punishable offence.” The Provost of the school demanded that the student submit a written explanation within 24 hours to avoid possible disciplinary action.

The query has sparked discussions online, with many Nigerians reacting to the school’s decision.
