Senate President Godswill Akpabio has assured President Bola Ahmed Tinubu that his second term in office is secure. He made this statement on Wednesday, March 26, during a special Iftar dinner hosted by the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF) in Abuja.
Iftar is the meal Muslims eat to break their fast at sunset during Ramadan. Speaking at the event, Akpabio confidently stated that the All Progressives Congress (APC) would remain in power beyond 2027 and even expand its influence to more states.
To emphasize his confidence, Akpabio called for a vote, asking those in support of APC’s return in 2027 to say “aye” and those against to say “nay.” When the majority responded with “aye,” he declared, “The ayes have it.”
He also encouraged senators interested in contesting for governorship positions in 2027 to go ahead, using Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo as an example of a senator who successfully transitioned to the role of governor.
With this declaration, Akpabio made it clear that APC leaders are optimistic about their chances in the next presidential election.
