Former senator Ben Murray-Bruce has spoken in support of Senate President Godswill Akpabio, saying he is a man of good character. His statement comes after serious allegations were made against Akpabio by Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan and former presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar.
Natasha accused Akpabio of harassing and punishing her for rejecting his alleged advances, which led to her suspension. Atiku also called Akpabio corrupt and claimed he mistreats women.
However, Murray-Bruce dismissed these accusations. He said Akpabio has been investigated many times and has always been cleared of wrongdoing.
He stated that Nigeria is lucky to have Akpabio as Senate President, especially at a time when the country needs stability. He warned against damaging the reputation of the National Assembly for political reasons.
Murray-Bruce also expressed his loyalty to Nigeria and said he would continue to support the country’s institutions. He declared his full support for Akpabio, saying he believes in his leadership.
