Former Minister of Education, Oby Ezekwesili, has shared her side of the story regarding her altercation with Senator Onyekachi Nwebonyi at the Senate chambers on March 25.

Ezekwesili was at the Senate to attend a public hearing on the sexual harassment allegations Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan made against Senate President, Godswill Akpabio. In an interview with Arise TV, she explained that while attending the hearing, the Senators dismissed her and other supporters of Senator Natasha, making it seem like they were not important.

She stated that as Senator Nwebonyi was about to speak, she told him to “shut up.” This, she said, led to a strong reaction from the Senator, who then insulted her.

The incident has sparked discussions about the treatment of women in politics and the Senate’s handling of sensitive allegations.
