Rivers: Forces planning to impeach Fubara can rest now – Shehu Sani

Former Senator of Kaduna Central, Shehu Sani, has commented on the recent decision by President Bola Tinubu to suspend Rivers State Governor Sim Fubara for six months.

Sani, taking to social media, stated that those who were planning to impeach Governor Fubara can now relax for the next six months. His words were: “The impeaching forces and the impeachment target can now rest for six months.”

This decision came after President Tinubu declared a state of emergency in Rivers State during a nationwide address. He expressed his concern over the political unrest in the state and accused Governor Fubara of demolishing the State House of Assembly building.

As part of his decision, Tinubu suspended Governor Fubara and his deputy, Ngozi Odu, for six months. Additionally, all elected members of the Rivers State House of Assembly were also suspended. To take control of the state’s affairs, Tinubu appointed Vice Admiral Ibokette Ibas (Rtd) as the Administrator of the state.

This major political shift follows a meeting between President Tinubu, his service chiefs, and the Inspector-General of Police at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa.
