Governor Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi State has suspended three commissioners for not attending a government meeting without permission. The affected commissioners are Solomon Azi (Grants and Donor Agencies), Victor Chukwu (Environment), and Ikeuwa Omebe (Rural Development).
The suspension, which will last for one month, was announced by the Commissioner for Information and State Orientation, Jude Okpor. He explained that the decision was made to enforce discipline and commitment in the government.
Governor Nwifuru also warned public officials against being absent or neglecting their duties. He stressed that his administration would not tolerate a careless attitude toward work.
As part of the suspension, the affected commissioners will lose all the privileges that come with their positions for the next month.
In addition to the suspension, the governor urged contractors working on government projects to speed up their work. He warned that the government would take legal action against any contractor who fails to meet deadlines and quality standards.
