Footballer Milutin Osmajic is charged by the FA after being accused of racism

Preston North End player Milutin Osmajic has been charged by the Football Association (FA) after being accused of making a racist comment during a Championship match.

The incident took place on 15 February during Preston’s game against Burnley. Osmajic was accused of making a racist remark toward Burnley’s Hannibal Mejbri. After a heated moment between the two players, Mejbri spoke to the referee, Andrew Kitchen, before continuing to play until he was substituted in the 71st minute.

On Monday, the FA confirmed that Osmajic had been charged for acting improperly under FA Rule E3. A statement on the FA’s website explained that the charge includes the use of abusive and/or insulting words.

The FA also said this was an “aggravated breach” under FA Rule E3.2, meaning it involved race or color. Osmajic has until 25 March to respond.

Preston North End acknowledged the FA’s charge but stated that Osmajic denies the allegations. The club said he will submit an official response, and they will not make further comments until the case is resolved.

This case highlights the FA’s strict stance on racism in football. Fans will be waiting to see how Osmajic responds and what decision the FA makes.
