The Rivers State House of Assembly has officially accused Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his deputy, Ngozi Odu, of gross misconduct. Lawmakers issued the notice on Monday, citing their actions as being in line with the Nigerian Constitution.
According to Channels TV, the lawmakers referred to Section 188 of the 1999 Constitution (as amended) to justify their decision. In their statement, they said the notice was necessary due to misconduct in the deputy governor’s office.
Although the assembly previously denied plans to impeach Fubara, rumors of his possible removal have been circulating. The latest move by the lawmakers has fueled further speculation about an impeachment process.
