Nigerian troops, working with local vigilantes, stopped a terrorist attack in Mada town, Zamfara State. They killed four attackers, forcing the rest to flee with gunshot wounds.
According to security expert Zagazola Makama, the attack took place around 10 p.m. on Friday. It was one of several attacks by bandits seeking revenge for the death of a notorious leader, Alhaji Sani Dan Garin Bawo.
A security source revealed that the troops received intelligence about the planned attack. They quickly responded, engaging the terrorists in a fierce gun battle. The attackers were eventually overpowered and forced to escape into the forest.
During the attack, a local resident named Naziru Bakanike Mada was shot in the shoulder. He was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Since March 11, fighters loyal to another bandit leader, Dogo Hamza, have repeatedly attacked Mada town. However, security forces have successfully defended the area each time, killing many attackers.
A military official emphasized their determination to protect Mada, stating that the bandits will continue to fail in their attempts.
Security forces remain on high alert, ready to stop further attacks and ensure the safety of the people.
