Ceasefire: Russia’s delaying tactics, aggression in Ukraine must end – France President Macron

France’s President Emmanuel Macron has called on Russia to accept a 30-day ceasefire proposed by the United States to help stop the war in Ukraine. He emphasized that Russia’s aggression and delaying tactics must end.

In a post on his X account, Macron said he had spoken with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer about the ceasefire proposal. He urged Russia to stop making excuses and agree to the deal.

“I spoke with President Zelenskyy and Prime Minister Starmer after the progress made in the U.S.-Ukraine meeting in Jeddah. Russia must accept the ceasefire deal and end its aggression,” Macron wrote.

Macron also said that the violence in Ukraine must stop immediately. He stressed that words alone are not enough—concrete steps must be taken to bring peace.

He noted that a recent meeting in Paris brought together about 40 defense chiefs to discuss Ukraine’s situation. He added that discussions would continue via a videoconference with world leaders, including Zelenskyy and Starmer, to strengthen support for Ukraine and work toward lasting peace.

The United States proposed a 30-day ceasefire between Ukraine and Russia after a meeting in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The goal is to stop the fighting and create a path toward peace. However, Russia has yet to agree to the proposal.

World leaders continue to push for an end to the war, hoping that diplomacy will lead to a peaceful resolution.
