Nigeria police abolish rule dismissing unmarried pregnant officers

The Nigeria Police Force has officially removed a rule that led to the dismissal of unmarried female officers who became pregnant. This change is part of ongoing reforms to promote gender equality in the force.

Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Aishatu Baju, confirmed this update during an interview on Channels Television’s The Morning Brief. She explained that discriminatory sections of the Police Act, including Section 127, had been taken out under the Police Act 2020.
