Oyo: Makinde visits Aleshinloye market, promises government support

Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has assured traders affected by the fire at Aleshinloye Market that the government will provide immediate support. The fire, which broke out in the early hours of Wednesday, destroyed goods and properties worth millions of naira.

Makinde, represented by his Deputy, Barrister Abdulraheem Adebayo Lawal, visited the market to sympathize with the traders. He acknowledged the devastating impact of the fire, especially because the market deals in highly flammable materials like plastics, which made the fire spread quickly.

The governor directed the Ibadan South-West Local Government and the Local Council Development Area (LCDA) to strengthen security in the market. He assured the victims that the government, through the Oyo State Emergency Management Agency (Oyo SEMA), would provide relief.

He also mentioned plans to collaborate with the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and other well-meaning individuals to support those affected.

While expressing gratitude that no lives were lost, Makinde prayed that such an incident would not happen again.
