DJ Killed During Hotel Robbery in Abuja

A group of armed robbers attacked a hotel in Gwarinpa, Abuja, early on Saturday.

In the early hours of Saturday, a group of armed robbers attacked a hotel in the Gwarinpa area of Abuja, causing panic among the residents.

During the robbery, the attackers shot a DJ who later died at the Federal Medical Centre in Jabi, Abuja, where he was taken for treatment.

Guests at the hotel were also robbed of their valuables, including money and phones, adding to the distress of the incident.

A local resident named Sani mentioned that this robbery has increased fear in the area, as such incidents have become more frequent.

Sani said,

“Early Saturday morning, armed robbers attacked Volcano Hotel in Gwarinpa, stealing belongings from guests. The DJ was shot and died at the hospital. This robbery has made residents even more fearful.”

A user on X.com, Kidbold, shared, “A club in Gwarimpa, Abuja was attacked by gunmen early this morning, and a DJ I know was killed. There’s a police station not far from the place.”

Efforts to contact the hotel management for comments were unsuccessful, as their listed phone number was not answered.

FCT Police Public Relations Officer, Josephine Adeh, confirmed the incident on Sunday, identifying the DJ as Bashir Dauda.

Adeh said the police arrived quickly after receiving a distress call and found Dauda injured. He was taken to the hospital where he was declared dead.

Adeh explained, “On 15/06/2024 at about 05:07 am, we got a call about a robbery at Volcano Peak Court Hotel, Gwarinpa, around 03:35 am. Police arrived and found Bashir Dauda had been shot. He was taken to the hospital and confirmed dead. His body was later released to his family for burial according to Islamic rites.”

She assured that an investigation is ongoing to catch the robbers and urged residents to be vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the police.
