UCL: Why PSG eliminated us – Liverpool manager, Arne Slot

Liverpool’s Champions League journey ended in disappointment after Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) knocked them out on penalties. The Reds had won the first leg 1-0 in Paris, despite PSG controlling most of the game. However, PSG scored the only goal at Anfield, forcing the match into a penalty shootout.

During the shootout, Darwin Nunez and Curtis Jones missed their penalties, while PSG converted all four of theirs, sealing Liverpool’s fate.

After the match, Liverpool manager Arne Slot admitted that luck was not on their side. Speaking to Amazon Prime, he said his team dominated the first 20-25 minutes, creating many chances. However, despite their strong start, PSG took the lead.

Slot felt Liverpool deserved more, especially after putting in a strong performance. He compared their situation to PSG’s in the first leg, where they played well but failed to score. This time, it was Liverpool who played well but couldn’t find the net.

Liverpool played a great game overall, but in the end, PSG’s clinical finishing in the penalty shootout made the difference.
