Anyanwu: Imo PDP reacts as Supreme Court refuses to grant stay of execution position

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Imo State has reacted to the Supreme Court’s latest decision on the party’s national secretary position.

In a statement by its spokesperson, Lancelot Obiaku, the party assured its members that it remains law-abiding and will wait for the final ruling. Obiaku also condemned those spreading fake news to create confusion within the party.

He urged PDP members and supporters in the state to remain calm and focused, as the Supreme Court will soon resolve the leadership dispute involving Samuel Nnaemeka Anyanwu.

Obiaku clarified that the court’s decision to reserve judgment on Anyanwu’s appeal against the Enugu Court of Appeal’s ruling was expected. He dismissed claims that the Supreme Court struck out the motion for a stay of execution, explaining that it was unnecessary under the current circumstances.

The PDP spokesperson also emphasized that Anyanwu’s participation in the governorship election did not violate the party’s constitution, as he has not held any public office since the election.

The party remains hopeful that the Supreme Court’s final judgment will bring clarity to the matter.
