Transfer: Don’t sign Gyokeres – Rio Ferdinand warns Arsenal, Man United

Former Manchester United star Rio Ferdinand has advised both his former club and Arsenal not to sign Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyökeres. He believes the Swedish forward may not be a good fit for the Premier League.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Ferdinand explained that Gyökeres might struggle with the physical demands of England’s top league. He said the striker gets a lot of scoring chances in Portugal, but the same might not happen in the Premier League.

“I don’t think he’s the right player. I’ve watched him closely three times, and I don’t see him getting the same chances in England,” Ferdinand said.

He also questioned whether Gyökeres has enough ability beyond his physical presence to succeed. “When I see him up against physical defenders, I don’t think he stands out. What else does he bring?”

Ferdinand compared Gyökeres’ potential challenge to when Timo Werner first arrived at Chelsea and struggled with the intensity of the league. He believes both Arsenal and Sporting CP manager Rúben Amorim need players with more physical strength and running ability.

Despite Ferdinand’s doubts, Gyökeres has been in top form for Sporting CP this season, scoring 27 goals in 24 league matches and adding six goals in eight Champions League games.

It remains to be seen whether Arsenal or Manchester United will take Ferdinand’s advice or make a move for the Swedish striker.
