Trump accused the “Radical Left” of trying to harm Tesla through an unfair boycott. He called Musk a “great American” and said the billionaire should not be punished for working to “Make America Great Again.” To show his support, Trump said he would purchase a Tesla the next morning.
Musk, the world’s richest person, responded to Trump’s message on his X platform, thanking him for his support.
Since returning to the White House in January, Trump has given Musk a key role in government spending cuts as the head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).
However, Musk’s cost-cutting measures have faced strong opposition, with protests, court battles, and pushback from lawmakers.
Although Musk has Trump’s backing, polls suggest that many Americans do not support the tech billionaire. His budget cuts have also caused tensions among Republican lawmakers and their voters.
