Enugu-Port Harcourt Expressway ready for inauguration in June – Nigerian Minister, Umahi

Nigeria’s Minister of Works, David Umahi, has confirmed that the rehabilitation of the 56.10 km Enugu-Port Harcourt Expressway (Umuahia–Aba section) will be completed by June 2025.

During his visit to inspect the project in Aba, Umahi expressed satisfaction with the work done by the construction company, Arab Contractors. He stated that only about two kilometres of earthwork and four kilometres of asphalt work remain before the road is finished.

Umahi has given the contractor until April to complete the remaining work and hand over the road. The minister also emphasized the importance of road development in the South-East and South-South regions, as he has been inspecting multiple projects in these areas since January.

In his speech, Umahi urged the South-East region to fully support President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 elections, stating that Tinubu’s administration has prioritized infrastructure development in the region.

He said, “The entire South-East must give President Tinubu 100 percent of their votes in 2027 to appreciate his work. He has used me to work for you.”

With the expressway nearing completion, commuters and businesses in the region can expect smoother travel and improved road conditions.
