Popular Nigerian singer Tiwa Savage has revealed why she chooses not to sign new artistes. Speaking in an interview with Forbes Africa, she explained that managing artistes is stressful, and she doesn’t have the patience for it.
Tiwa Savage believes that signing artistes comes with a lot of challenges. She shared that an artiste’s actions could suddenly cause problems, which she does not want to deal with.
“Everyone always asks when I will sign an artiste, but I don’t think I have the gift for it because it’s stressful. I could wake up one day and see my artiste trending for the wrong reasons.”
For her, handling artistes’ behavior and careers requires a different skill set—one that she admits she does not have.
Instead of signing artistes, Tiwa Savage is focusing on a different way to help the music industry. She plans to open a music school where young artistes can learn and improve their skills.
“I have the gift to help, which is why I want to start a music school where artistes can learn and later sign with a label that can truly support them.”
This way, upcoming singers will still get the guidance they need, but record labels with experience in managing artistes will be responsible for their careers.
Tiwa Savage’s decision shows that there are many ways to support new artistes without signing them directly. By creating a music school, she hopes to train and prepare young talents for success in the industry.
Her approach proves that true support goes beyond just signing artistes—it’s about giving them the right foundation to grow
