Senate advises Natasha to obey rules as she refuses to stand up for Akpabio’s entrance

The Nigerian Senate has advised Kogi Central Senator, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, to respect the institution’s rules after she refused to stand when Senate President Godswill Akpabio entered the chamber.

On Thursday, Senate Chief Whip Mohammed Monguno raised the issue, referring to Order 55(1). He explained that all senators are required to stand when the Senate President is ushered in by the Sergeant-at-arms.

Monguno expressed disappointment that Natasha failed to follow this rule on both Wednesday and Thursday. He urged her to abide by the Senate’s rules, no matter the circumstances, as they are meant to uphold the institution’s dignity.

In response, Senate President Akpabio upheld Monguno’s statement and reminded all senators to respect the Senate’s guidelines.
