A Magistrate’s Court in Abeokuta has postponed the case against popular musician Habeeb Okikiola, also known as Portable, to March 26. The court decided to merge his charges with those of his workers before starting the trial.
When the case resumed on Wednesday, the prosecution argued that it would be a waste of time to hear Portable’s case separately from his workers’ case. Senior State Counsel, Timileyin Oredein, explained that both cases were related and should be combined before moving forward.
Portable and nine of his workers were earlier arraigned on February 6 on similar charges. They face five charges, including conspiracy, assault, unlawful obstruction while carrying weapons, and actions that could disturb public peace.
They are also accused of attacking three officials from the Ogun State Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development.
The court agreed to the request and adjourned the case, allowing time to merge the charges before the trial begins.
