Insecurity: Uzodinma pleads more security approach from Nigerian army, others

Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma, has asked the Nigerian military and other security agencies to improve their efforts in fighting insecurity in the state and the Southeast region.

He made this request while meeting with Major General Oluyemi Thomas Olatoye, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 82 Division, Enugu, and his team at the Government House in Owerri.

Despite his plea for more security measures, Uzodinma praised the Nigerian military and other security agencies for their work in reducing insecurity in the state.

He acknowledged their sacrifices and contributions, saying their efforts have helped create a safer environment for development in Imo.

The Governor stressed that no government can function well in a place filled with violence. He emphasized the need to strengthen security forces to ensure the safety of citizens. He also assured the military of his continuous support and encouraged them to stay committed to their duties.

Uzodinma highlighted President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s efforts in addressing insecurity nationwide. He urged Major General Olatoye, who also leads Operation “UDOKA” in the Southeast, to work closely with other governors in the region to promote peace.

In response, Major General Olatoye stated that his visit to Imo was part of his official tour to inspect military commands under Sector 4. He wanted to assess their readiness, understand their challenges, and offer guidance to improve their operations.

He also commended Governor Uzodinma for his dedication to security and promised that the Nigerian Army would continue to work hard to combat insurgency in Imo and the entire Southeast region.
