Lionel Messi, the famous Argentine soccer player, disagrees with Kylian Mbappe’s statement that the European Championship is more challenging than the World Cup.
Mbappe recently said that the Euro tournament is more difficult than the World Cup, just before Euro 2024 starts in Germany. Messi, his former teammate at PSG, thinks differently.
Messi acknowledged the importance of the Euros and the strong teams that participate, but pointed out that Mbappe is ignoring successful teams like Argentina, Brazil, and Uruguay. Messi argued that calling the Euros the toughest competition is incorrect because the World Cup features all the top teams, including many world champions.
Messi highlighted that the World Cup has the best teams from around the world, and winning it is the ultimate goal for everyone, as it includes all the world champions
Messi’s team, Argentina, won the Copa America in 2021 by defeating Brazil. On the other hand, France is aiming for their first major trophy since winning the World Cup in 2018.
Mbappe was the top scorer at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, where France lost to Argentina in the final match. Mbappe recently shared why he thinks the European Championship is the toughest international tournament.
