Valentine Ozigbo, a former Anambra State governorship candidate and close ally of Peter Obi, has said he does not see a future for the Labour Party (LP). He also believes that Obi will not contest for president under the LP platform in 2027.
Ozigbo, who was once a member of the Obidient Movement, left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 2022 to support Obi’s presidential bid under the LP. However, on February 19, he moved from LP to the All Progressives Congress (APC), saying it was part of his commitment to a better future for his state.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Ozigbo stated that he does not believe LP has a future. He also suggested that Obi might not remain in the party if he decides to run for office again.
“Peter Obi has moved between different parties before—ANPP, APGA, PDP, and then LP. If he chooses to contest again, I can almost guarantee it won’t be under LP,” Ozigbo said.
Although he is not Obi’s spokesperson, Ozigbo hinted at ongoing discussions about political coalitions and believes that changes are coming. However, he remains open to being proven wrong.
With the 2027 elections approaching, many Nigerians will be watching closely to see Obi’s next political move.
