Senator Orji Uzor Kalu has declared that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) is not considering any alternative presidential candidate for the 2027 elections. He believes President Bola Tinubu is doing well in governance and deserves continued support.

Speaking to journalists at the Senate, Kalu acknowledged that Nigeria’s economic reforms have been tough on citizens. However, he assured Nigerians that these changes are necessary for long-term growth.

He urged the public to be patient, noting that other countries like Canada and the UK also face economic challenges.

According to Kalu, Tinubu’s administration is making careful decisions by consulting both local and international experts before implementing key policies. He emphasized that difficult reforms take time but will ultimately benefit the nation.

On the topic of the June 12, 1993 presidential election annulment, Kalu expressed hope for a second edition of former military leader Ibrahim Babangida’s memoir.

He believes the first edition did not reveal all the facts. He called on Babangida to name those responsible for preventing Moshood Abiola’s election victory from being recognized.

Kalu also advocated for posthumous recognition of Abiola as a past president. He praised former President Muhammadu Buhari for honoring Abiola and urged President Tinubu to take further steps, including officially placing Abiola’s image among Nigeria’s past leaders.

He concluded by saying such recognition would help bring closure to Abiola’s family and supporters.
