Former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has accused Nuhu Ribadu, the National Security Adviser to President Bola Tinubu, of trying to ruin his reputation.
During an interview on Arise TV on Monday, February 24, El-Rufai claimed that Ribadu is leading a campaign against him because he sees him as a political rival. He said that while they were once friends, that is no longer the case.
According to El-Rufai, Ribadu is pressuring former government officials who worked with him to falsely implicate him in corruption cases.
He added that agencies like the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) are being used for political purposes, while the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) remains more professional.
El-Rufai insisted that he has never taken any money illegally and even donated half of his entitlements as governor.
He believes Ribadu wants to become Nigeria’s president and is trying to eliminate any strong political figures from the North who might challenge him.
The allegations have sparked discussions about political rivalries and the use of government agencies in Nigeria.
